University of Toronto Schools (UTS) is a university preparatory school, grades 7 through 12, affiliated with the University of Toronto. Located on U of T's St. George Campus, UTS offers high-achieving students a specialized curriculum and a unique co-educational learning environment that encourages creative interests and physical activity as well as a sense of social responsibility.
UTS graduates are admitted to highly-selective North American colleges and universities, many on scholarships. UTS is renowned for educating generations of outstanding graduates including two Nobel Laureates, 20 Rhodes Scholars and numerous leaders in commerce, industry, academics, the arts, sports, government and public service.
UTS is the only merit-based university preparatory school in Canada affiliated with a university and located on a university campus. Admission to UTS is based on overall performance. Financial accessibility is supported through a generously endowed bursary fund to which families may apply and which has been set in place to provide opportunities for qualified applicants.
With opportunities to excel in academics, athletics, the arts and student leadership,
UTS students thrive in a community of engaged peers and passionate, committed teachers.
UTS awards in excess of $1 million annually in partial and full bursary support based on need - including funds to support extra-curricular participation. UTS graduates are admitted to
highly-selective universities and colleges – many on scholarships. For the graduating

UTS is committed to attracting the best and brightest students, regardless of financial means, and a family’s ability to meet school tuition is not factored into the admission process. Consequently, the school maintains a strict merit-based admissions policy and students admitted to UTS are offered admission on the strength of their performance at entrance examinations as well as past academic experience.
As part of that commitment, UTS has provided financial assistance to approximately 17-20% of its students in the past 5 years with average bursaries of approximately $7000-9000. This is one of the largest bursary programs among independent schools in Canada. We expect the bursary allocation for 2015-16 to exceed $1.1 million, including full and partial bursaries.
Please contact the admissions office if you have questions about the bursary program.
University of Toronto Schools:
- is committed to accessibility to all students who qualify academically
- recognizes the financial constraints upon those who qualify and therefore makes bursary funding available on an equitable basis to the reasonable extent that it has such funds available each year
- will allocate available funds using a process that is consistent, equitable and strives to match available funds to need as closely as practical each year
- strives to provide assistance to as many candidates as possible;
- will aim to increase available bursary funds commensurate with the increase in tuition
- will draw bursary funds from the UTS Foundation and the “Top Up” funds raised through Annual Giving
- will provide a supplementary bursary, proportional to the bursary support received, for most co-curricular events, in particular, those where students qualify to attend
