Janet Collins was born on March 2, 1917 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Janet and her family moved to L.A when she was only 4. Ms. Collins was the first colored prima ballerina. I just read a book about a little girl who wanted to be just like Ms. Collins.
The book I read was called, A Dance Like Starlight. She danced at the Metropolitan opera theater. She was a beautiful black woman. She brought peoples hopes & dreams up. She was a perfect dancer just like my cousin Sarai. She was a beautiful dancer. She was so graceful. She taught me that I could be a pretty dancer too. She put a smile on my face. If life turned their back on her, she did not give up. She would keep trying.

Janet Collins has inspired me to continue to dance. She makes me want to be a great dancer and makes me feels like I can be whatever I want to be. She is just like me, a hard worker. She worked as hard as she could one minute to the next. She was 86 years old when she died. I really liked her, and her amazing work in the arts and I really liked this book.
