Minority Scientists Showcase

This weekend Naomi, Sarah, & Ezra attended the Minority Scientists Showcase at the St. Louis Science Center.  It was a great opportunity meet local African American scientist as they highlighted their contributions to the scientific community.  They had a chance to interact one-on-one with the scientists in informal discussions about science and science careers. The scientists had exhibits and hands on experiments which highlighted their particular areas of interest; including water treatment, solar panels, pharmacology, neuroscience, and mortuary science.  It was quite interesting and it was quite impactful for the children to see and interact with scientist which look like them.  The scientists shared their insights with the youth, and encouraged and inspired the youth toward academic and professional success.

  1. Good Post! It's so important to expose our children to the possibilities education can provide....and to have our children see people who look like them achieving success in their professional careers is very encouraging.

  3. Naomi, Sarah, & Ezra, it's such a blessing to see you take an opportunity to spend your weekend attending a showcase of black scientists & inventors. As I the pictures of your visit I wonder if you got a chance to find out what you have in common with them, when they were your ages? Keep up the good work!!!! Auntie Denise/ATL
