As the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy continues to disrupt the families who are struggling to recover, several colleges and universities have announced that they will extend their deadline for early admission applications.
The deadline to apply early admission at many colleges and universities is typically Nov. 1 or Nov. 15. Students are usually notified of results in mid-December.
Early admission programs allow students to apply to college ahead of the rush of applicants who apply by regular decision deadlines; some may argue that applying early increases one’s chances of getting in. The two most common early admission programs are early decision, in which students must agree in advance to enroll if they are accepted, and early action, which is typically nonbinding.
