The jobs of the future are going to require some type of higher education

Vice President Biden: “Going to College is the Most Important Decision You’ll Make”

A college education is essential to the future of the economy. Students need to be more prepared than ever for the future job market. President Obama and his administration are continuing to do what they can to stress this importance.

Last week, Vice President Joe Biden – along with United States Secretary of Education Arne Duncan – spoke at Lincoln High School in Gahanna, Ohio. They discussed the importance of choosing to go to college, as well as making sure that college is an affordable and realistic option.
Biden and Duncan emphasized that where you go to school does not matter, just as long as you are going. “The jobs of the future are going to require some type of higher education,” Duncan said.

According to the U.S. Department of Education, the duo explained the steps the Obama Administration is taking to increase the affordability of college. This includes increasing the amount of students who can receive Pell Grants, as well as increasing the amount each student can receive. Duncan also mentioned that the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) has recently been simplified to make applying for financial aid easier than ever.

Before they were done, Biden and Duncan let the students and parents in attendance know that while choosing to go to college is one of the most important decisions you will make, it’s only half the battle. Students need to make sure they successfully complete their education.
